Frequently Asked Questions

 

What is the purpose of this program?

Through a year of workshops, participants will grow in leadership, spirituality, and learning through intergenerational relationships. The Ministry Leadership Program develops the next generation of lay leaders in ministry at sister-led or sister-founded organizations (school, colleges, and non-profits).

Are there any eligibility criteria?

Yes, this program is limited to young adults (ages 22-35) currently employed at mission-driven schools, colleges, and non-profit organizations that have a commitment to improving the lives of individuals who are marginalized and/or living in poverty.

 

Is there compensation for participation in the Ministry Leadership Program?

Yes, participants will receive a $500 stipend for full participation in the program. In addition, the participant’s place of employment will be eligible to receive a grant up to $500 to support mission integration activities created and implemented during the program from August 2021-May 2022 program year.

 

What is the meeting schedule?

Ministry Leadership Program participants are required to attend all program meetings. Participants will meet one afternoon per month from Fall 2021 – Spring 2022. In addition, participants will meet monthly with an assigned sister companion at the young adult’s school of employment.

The 2021-2022 workshop dates, scheduled for Thursday’s from 1-4pm, will be on:

2021: August 5, September 9, October 14, November 4, December 16

2022: January 13, February 10, March 10, April 7, May 5

 

Is there a deadline for submission of applications?

What characteristics are you looking for in a participant?

The Ministry Leadership Program is looking for individuals who see themselves or are seen by others as emerging leaders in their organization and who have an interest in the following:

  • developing skills and practices for ministry leadership

  • exploring the mission of their organization

  • learning from sisters about their approach to ministry

  • discussing the challenges and gifts of ministry in an intergenerational community of peers and sisters

 

What commitment is required of participants?

  • Attend and prepare for all workshops
  • Develop and commit to implementing a mission integration project at your school
  • Lead at least one workshop activity during the program
  • Meet with sister companion once per month
  • Contribute one blog entry on your experience in the program

 

How will I know if my application is complete?

You will receive an email confirming receipt of your application.

How will I be notified if I am selected? How soon can I expect to hear that I am selected

Final selection and notification will be made by May 14th, 2021. If needed, applicants will be notified via email for an interview, which will occur virtually between April 20th-May10th.
