Generative Spirit

Sustaining the impact sisters make to communities of need

The Generative Spirit Initiative is an intergenerational community that cultivates connection between Catholic Sisters and lay partners, particularly young adults, to respond to the evolving needs of the world through ministries that nurture presence, accompaniment, trust, dignity, and justice.

Generative Spirit Programs

The Ministry Leadership Program is a unique year-long opportunity for emerging leaders (ages 22-35) at sister-led or sister-founded schools and colleges throughout Northeast Ohio. Through monthly workshops, participants will focus on leadership, spirituality and learning through intergenerational relationships. Applications are now closed and our current cohort of 8 participants will begin the program in August 2021.

ERAA, or "Education, Reflection, Accountability, Action,” is an intergenerational anti-racism initiative for white people of faith that has been meeting monthly since September 2020. We will transition to smaller accountability groups to focus on ongoing actions and meet with a larger group quarterly.

Sr. Kate Hine, SND and Rachel Drotar, Program Coordinator for Generative Spirit led two, virtual 4-week long Advent and Lent faith sharing groups for Sisters and young adults. We were able to take time to pause, use scripture for personal reflection, and pray together during the pandemic.

Generative Spirits Podcast

“Generative Spirits: Conversations with Catholic Sisters” is a Catholic Sister podcast that explores how members of Northeast Ohio congregations respond to the signs of the times in ways only Sisters can - with personal insights and a collective knowledge of life and ministry over a century old. We will take a look inside the lives of Catholic Sisters in a changing world.
