Conference of Religious Leadership

The Conference of Religious Leadership (CORL) was founded in 1975 by the leaders of congregations of women religious in Northeast Ohio. These leaders, recognizing the power of collective impact, saw the need to share ideas, support each other and collaborate on ministry initiatives.

Purpose

To express our commitment to the Church of Cleveland.

To witness to the hope and truth of the Gospel by uniting together as a supportive group.

To collaborate with the bishop of Cleveland in identifying issues and exploring and evaluating solutions.

To address the challenges of our time by exercising our collective voice and initiating collaborative actions compatible with this witness.

To share information and services.

To engage in dialogue on common issues and concerns at both the leadership and membership levels.

Vision

In the spirit of a new Pentecost, the Conference of Religious Leadership calls forth a vital presence and shared commitment to the Church of Cleveland as together we witness the hope and truth of the Gospel. United in the common call to consecrated life, we address the challenges of our time with the courage and radical availability of our foundresses.

CORL and its member religious congregations seek to further strengthen the bonds among women religious in Northeast Ohio and, as numbers of sisters inevitably decrease, consider new ways to maximize the collective strength and influence of sisters in the Church and in Northeast Ohio. CORL also works to discover new avenues where sisters and committed lay-persons can collaborate in ministry in Church and in society.
