The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland has joined other funders across the country to support Catholic sisters in their response to the immediate needs of communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In recognition of the vital and trusted role Catholic sisters play in delivering services, the GHR Foundation and the Sisters of Mercy launched the Sisters on the Frontlines initiative, which supports sisters active in their missions to provide monetary assistance to individuals and families adversely affected by COVID-19.

The Sisters of Mercy piloted this initiative by giving out $1,000 each to 100 sisters, and the initiative is expanding to support more sisters across the country.

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland is pleased to support sisters in Northeast Ohio through this initiative and has leveraged funds from the Hilton Fund for Sisters, the Congregation of St. Joseph and the Conference of Religious Leadership to distribute more than $60,000 among applicant congregations. We are pleased to announce that the following congregations have received funding so far:

Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland
Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown
Sisters of Notre Dame, Christ the King Province
Congregation of St. Joseph
Sisters of the Humility of Mary
Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine
Dominican Sisters of Peace
Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis
Sisters of the Incarnate Word

As funds are distributed and used to support congregational communities, stay tuned for updates on how the Sisters on the Frontlines initiative is making a difference.
